Branding & Marketing Materials - A showcase and thought process

We recently created logos and branding materials such as postcards, business cards, and door hangers for Tristar Custom Pools as well as Nashville Paint pros. Creating a new brand as well as using existing content like what we did for Tristar pools both havetheyr own challenges. The both involve a strategic and thoughtful approach. Here's a some outlined thought process our experienced creative Director went through to create the content needed for both companies.

Understanding the Brand and Market

  1. Brand Identity and Values:

    • Research the Company: Understanding both Tristar Custom Pools' mission, vision, and values as well as their sister company Nashville Paint pros andWhat sets them apart from competitors? What is their brand story?

    • Customer Demographics: Identify the target audience. Are they high-end homeowners, middle-class families, commercial properties, etc.? Both being similiar clientele helped in the deisgn and creative process.

    • Brand Personality: Determine the tone and personality of the brand. Is it luxurious, family-friendly, professional, or playful?

And for the Existing company we were able to make use of their branding to create a interesting way to brighten some new life to their branding efforts by playing with shapes, colors and adding a splash of playfullness in the copy we ultimately ended up landing on.

Designing Business Cards

  1. Professionalism and Clarity:

    • Simplicity: Keep the design clean and uncluttered. Essential information should be easily readable.

    • Contact Information: Include the company’s name, logo, employee name, job title, phone number, email, website, and physical address.

Designing Postcards

  1. Objective and Message:

    • Clear Call to Action (CTA): Decide on the primary goal of the postcard. Is it to generate leads, announce a promotion, or showcase new services?

    • Key Information: Highlight essential details like services offered, special offers, contact information, and a compelling CTA.

  2. Visual Elements:

    • High-Quality Images: Use high-resolution images of beautifully designed pools to capture attention.

    • Brand Colors and Fonts: Ensure consistency with the brand’s color palette and typography.

    • Layout and Composition: Design a clean and visually appealing layout that guides the viewer’s eye through the postcard.

  3. Personalization:

    • Tailored Messaging: Personalize the postcard to speak directly to the recipient's needs and desires.

    • Location-Specific Offers: If applicable, include offers or information specific to the recipient’s location.

One of their marketing efforts is mailers in the form of postcards for specific addresses and neighborhoods.

What was your creative process when designing the logo and concepts for Nashville Paintpros?

When I embarked on designing the logo and concepts for Nashville Paintpros, my creative process was rooted in a deep understanding of the brand’s essence, its target audience, and the unique value it offers. Here’s a detailed overview of the journey:

Discovery & Research

Understanding the Brand Identity: At the start, I through myself in the Nashville Paintpros' brand. We were staring from just a concept from the client ‘gold' as a key element. And adding to the complexity was ‘WE WANT A BIRD” as the logo…

I conducted thorough research to grasp their mission, values, and what sets them apart in the competitive painting industry. This involved detailed discussions with the founders to capture their vision and the core message they wanted to convey through their branding.

Market Analysis: Next, we did a quick but a comprehensive market analysis. This included studying the competitive landscape and identifying what other painting companies in Nashville were doing. I paid close attention to their branding strategies, visual identities, and customer engagement tactics. This helped me pinpoint opportunities where Nashville Paintpros could stand out.

Concept Development

Brainstorming and Sketching: With a clear understanding of the brand and market, I began brainstorming and sketching initial concepts. My focus was on visual elements that would resonate with the brand’s identity and appeal to its target audience. I explored various symbols and icons related to painting—brushes, paint splashes, rollers—and combined these with elements that reflect Nashville’s unique character.

Through many iterations and back and forths we finally landed on the idea of a bird in flight with a gold leaf effected typography text. with PAINT PROS being the dominat factor in the designs.

And of course no Logo design is complete without a Dark version as well.

Once we had the foundation of the brand it became simple to create the various pireces of branding and marketing materials needed for the client.

Versatility Testing: I tested the logo across different applications—business cards, postcards, door hangers, digital platforms—to ensure it maintained its impact and legibility. This step guaranteed that the branding would be consistently strong and adaptable.

For the business card we landed on a charcoal background on thick card stock with gold leaf on glass pushing the ‘painting’ idea through immediately.
